Urban Legend: Bloody Mary

Q: What do you usually think of when you're in a room in front of the mirror in the middle of the night?
A: Nobody in their right mind would look at the mirror in the middle of the night!

So, for this blog entry it's all about the Legend of Bloody Mary. I'm pretty sure that most of us are very familiar with this urban legend.

Bloody Mary is said to appear in a mirror if you chant her name multiple times. There is actually a ritual that is to be done if you want to summon her. You have to be in a dark room and then you have to face a mirror and then chant her name multiple times. Afterwards you will see a vague image of a lady slowly appearing right before your eyes while looking at the mirror.

There have been different versions of this urban legend that is circulating the web here are some of the versions:

1. "When I was about 9 years old, I went to a friend's for a birthday/slumber party. There were about 10 other girls there. About midnight, we decided to play Mary Worth. Some of us had never heard of this so one of the girls told the story.
Mary Worth lived a long time ago. She was a very beautiful young girl. One day she had a terrible accident that left her face so disfigured that nobody would look at her. She had not been allowed to see her own reflection after this accident for fear that she would lose her mind. Before this, she had spent long hours admiring her beauty in her bedroom mirror.
One night, after everyone had gone to bed, unable to fight the curiosity any longer, she crept into a room that had a mirror. As soon as she saw her face, she broke down into terrible screams and sobs. It was at this moment that she was so heartbroken and wanted her old reflection back, that she walked into the mirror to find it, vowing to disfigure anybody that came looking for her in the mirror.
After hearing this story, which was told very scarily, we decided to turn out all of the lights and try it. We all huddled around the mirror and starting repeating "Mary Worth, Mary Worth, I believe in Mary Worth."
About the seventh time we said it one of the girls that was in front of the mirror started screaming and trying to push her way back away from the mirror. She was screaming so loud that my friends mom came running into the room. She quickly turned on the lights and found this girl huddled in the corner screaming. She turned her around to see what the problem and saw these long fingernail scratches running down her right cheek. I will never forget her face as long as I live!!"  -As told on the internet, Feb. 16, 1994

2. Some girls Kat didn't know invited her over for a sleepover. That night they played Truth or Dare. When it was Kat's turn she picked dare. One of the girls said, "I dare you to do Bloody Mary." Kat accepted. They gave Kat a lit candle and pushed her into the bathroom. Kat spun around three times and said, "Bloody Mary, Bloody Mary, Bloody Mary."
When nothing happened, she walked to the door. Before she could reach it, her only light blew out. She banged on the door, begging the girls to open it, but they just laughed. She backed up against the door. The sink and the bath started to run. It poured out thick blood. It soon was overflowing onto the floor. Kat screamed a blood-curdling scream as Bloody Mary rose from the water then crawled out. When she reached Kat she slit her throat and dragged her back to the bath. The next morning, the girls cheeked on her. When they saw her, their screams could be heard for miles.

Top 3 Most Haunted Places in the World

Sometimes whenever we look at an empty and abandoned place, we automatically feel Goosebumps all over our body. How much more if we take a look at the top three most haunted places in the world. From an insane asylum to a suicide forest, it couldn’t get any creepier than that. So let’s start the countdown…

1.       The Beechworth Lunatic Asylum, Australia

In my opinion abandoned insane asylums are the creepiest places ever. The Beechworth Lunatic Asylum was originally called Mayday Hills Lunatic Asylum, it is located in Victoria, Australia. It served as a mental institution form 1867 until 1995. It was recorded that about 9,000 patients died in its 130 years in service. There are rumored ghost sightings and hauntings in that very place this very day.

2.    Aokigahara, Japan

Aokigahara can be found at the base of Mt. Fuji, and it is infamously known as the “Suicide Forest”. Numerous numbers of people have trekked into the forest to take their own lives in the middle of its dense trees and vines, the local police do annual sweeps to clear away the dead bodies. Signs could be found around the forest placed by the local police: “Your life is a precious gift to your parents” and “Please consult with the police before you decide to die.”

Many people claimed that the forest is haunted by the souls of those who have died there. According to one legend during the times of famine in ancient Japan, if the families couldn’t feed themselves, some would be abandoned in the forest where they died of starvation. Those ghosts are believed to haunt the forest today.

So, to make the story short, it is a very terrifyingly scary place.

3. The Manila Film Center, Philippines

So, this one doesn’t seem to look like the typical haunted place, but the story behind this place is depressing and terrifying. The Manila Film Center is reportedly haunted by the ghost of the workers who were killed during the construction accident. The accident buried workers in quick-drying cement, killing 26 construction workers and injuring 36 others but rumor has is that 168 died. Some believed that there are other bodies who were entombed in the structure and that the souls still haunts the Film Center.

There are thousands of haunted places all over the world and there are also countless stories on how it became haunted but in writing this blog entry I have only chosen those stories that are told the most and that may all the lost souls rest in peace.

Haunted Objects

"I'm not afraid of werewolves or vampires or haunted hotels, I'm afraid of what real human beings to do other real human beings." -Walter Jon Williams

Have you ever stared at an object and felt something weird? I know I have, like staring at a gravestone creeps me out. There are some things in this world that looks ordinary, but there's something more that meets the eye. Whenever we hear the word "haunted", we automatically think of houses, buildings, forest, ans other old abandoned places, but the truth is that the demons and spirits could also possess ordinary objects. So this week's blog entry is about the top 3 most haunted objects.

1. Annabelle - Haunted Doll

Most of us are familiar with this doll, it was made famous by the movie The Conjuring. Annabelle's story is one of the creepiest cases of possessed object on record. The doll is currently locked up inside a glass case on an occult museum. Annabelle was purchased in the late 1970s as a present for her daughter's birthday. Donna was the recipient  of the doll, she was a nursing student in college who lives with her roommate in a small apartment. After a few days Donna and her friend notices that there was something wrong about the doll. They have noticed that the doll in a completely different room from where they originally placed it. They have also witnessed the doll standing up with its arms folded. They have also seen some strange messages scribbled on paper. Donna even saw some blood drops on the hands and chest of the doll and it scared her so much that she sought help from a psychic.

They found out that a young girl named Annabelle Higgins had died in their apartment and that her spirit inhabits the doll. A few days later the doll attacked Donna's friend Lou. After the horrifying incident she contacted renowned paranormal Ed and Lorraine Warren. They found out it was actually possessed by a demon who lied about its identity. Today, Annabelle remains locked in a glass case at the Warren Occuld Museum.

2. The Haunted Painting

This painting is known by the nickname "eBay Haunted Painting" created by artist Bill Stoneham in 1972. It is believed to be one of the world's most haunted works of art. The painting was first purchased by actor John Marley then it was then acquired by a Californian couple. The couple claimed that the figures on the painting moved around at night. The curse of the painting doesn't only affect its owners but people who viewed the painting online also reported feeling sick and fainting. The couple got rid of the painting when they auctioned it on eBay. It was purchased by an art galerry in Grand Rapids, MI for $1,025.00. I didn't feel sick or anything but I don't feel comfortable looking at the picture of the painting.

3. The Anguished Man - Another haunted painting

The name of the painting itself makes me uncomfortable. This scary-looking painting was inherited by Sean Robinson from his grandmother. His grandma had always told him that the painting was evil, and that the artist who created it used his own blood mixed with the paint, and killed himself shortly after the painting was complete.

When Robinson took the painting into his home, he and his family experienced hearing voices and crying, and seeing shadowy figure of a man.So, he decided to set up a camera to try to capture the strange events on tape. He put the painting down in his basement, but he has no plans in selling it.

There are a lot of things in this world that are probably haunted maybe your cellphone is secretly possessed by a demon, or maybe your favorite stuffed toys secretly moves at night. Some paranormal phenomenon occurs not because the place is haunted maybe it's just because a certain spirit became emotionally attached on some objects.

Highway to HELL!

So I always hear this phrase “Oh HELL no!” but do you even know what “hell” is? Growing up, I have always wondered whether hell exists or is it just a product of one’s imagination. I’ve read some scriptures and articles that are claiming the existence of hell. And that it contains the unfortunate soul of the dead who are suffering eternally.

I have heard and read different stories from different people about the existence of hell that are circulating the internet. But the story that interests me the most is the story of Angelica Zambrano an Ecuadorian girl. She claims that she was dead for 23 hours, during her 23 hour-death there she met Jesus Christ and that he showed her hell and heaven so that when she comes back to life, she could warn people about the realities of the next life. She said that when Jesus showed him the hell she saw some famous faces. She saw Selena Quintanilla Perez (she sang “Dreaming of You”) and that Selena even told her to tell the people on earth not to listen or sing her songs or else she might get punish. She also saw Pope John Paul II in hell, and same thing goes for Michael Jackson.
Angelika Zambrano
I bet you have heard of this story before, about the Siberian Drilling. A geological group drilled a hole about 14.4 km deep, and the scientists claimed that they have heard human screams. They even recorded it. Some people claims that it’s a hoax, but here’s the recorded audio:

I am not saying hell does or doesn’t exist, it still depends on ones’ faith and beliefs.
